Inspired By Trees continues their 2020 journey by welcoming Jay Phonic back to the label for a new EP. The Swiss artist made his label debut in December of 2018 with his well received 'Fighter' single. Remixed by Marc DePulse, its timeless sensibility proved to be a catalog highlight, earning the support of industry tastemakers such as Adriatique, John Digweed and Guy J. Now following a remix for Inyan Music to begin the year, Jay lands back on Inspired By Trees with 'Leaf Blower Swing', alongside a remix from Pedro Mercado & Karada.

Jay Phonic's affinity for timeless storyboarding has never been more evident than on 'Leaf Blower Swing'. Backed by a hypno-groove and finely tuned percussion, it's a creation that flows through a myriad of sultry rhythmic structures. Hugely compelling throughout, striking chord stabs, dubbed out tones and astral effects converge for moments of sonic integrity, while timely synth swells and emerging atmospheres add to its cosmic charm. Rising through the main break, a charming lead theme adds depth and emotion, gently evolving before elegantly peaking as the groove drops for a heady finale. Continuing the deep, hypnotic ethos of the EP is the equally brilliant 'Woodland River'. Mysterious and mystical from the outset, the piece flows through dubby motifs, tantalizing arps and gaseous atmospheres, before timely overlays entice the narrative with emotive moments. Flawlessly tailored for a late night dance floor. it sits as a perfect complement to 'Leaf Blower Swing', rounding out two stunning creations from Jay Phonic.

The lone interpretation of 'Leaf Blower Swing' is provided by Pedro Mercado & Karada. The Belgian duo have been frequent studio partners since making their debut in 2009 via Creamminal Records. Fast forward ten years and the beloved duo have racked up over two hundred production credits, highlighted by releases on Natura Viva, Parquet, One Of A Kind and Proton's Particles. Now making their much anticipated Inspired By Trees debut, Pedro and Karada take 'Leaf Blower Swing' into darker territory. Drawing on the sensibilities of the original the duo lean in a more progressive minded direction, with a reworked groove and spacious rhythmic core. Dramatic stabs and squelchy sweeps make for lively first act, perfectly setting up a tension filled break and foreboding finale.
