GuyRo – Evenflow [Balkan Connection]

The latest release from Balkan Connection welcomes GuyRo back to the label for a new EP. The Spanish artist first appeared on the Serbian imprint in January of this year with his critically acclaimed Chris Sterio collaboration 'Zen'. 2018 promises to be a memorable one for GuyRo and his latest EP 'Evenflow' is his most anticipated work to date. Add to that Robert R. Hardy and East Cafe remixes and you've got a must hear release.

Well known for this long, expansive journeys the ten minute title track 'Evenflow' leads the release off. Deeply hypnotic from the outset, Guy expertly weaves intriguing effects and percussive splashes as the framework begins to form. A gorgeous vocal loop flows effortlessly, foreshadowing the introduction of the full narrative. Sweet, soulful and delicately poignant it not only highlights a stunning break but leads to an emotive finale. The companion piece 'Illuminate' comes with the same irresistible production quality. Warm, fluid and full of bubbly synth bits, it's a charming first act, ultimately bridging energy into a cinematic break that just steals your heart. Warm synth swells with a breezy effervescence carry the track into one of the most pleasing finales of the year. This one is timeless.

The lone interpretation of 'Evenflow' is provided by Robert R. Hardy who puts a deeper more laid back touch on the track. The tempo shifts down while the main tonal theme and vocal elements get utilized throughout. A perfect complement to the original and one that can translate quite well on a deeper dance floor.

The release concludes with East Cafe lending his progressive prowess to 'Illuminate'. The sleek foundation of the original gets replaced with something much more rugged and peak time inspired. It's churning groove quickly becomes infectious and the break only hints at the level of emotion from the original, before a classy build unleashes a third act where the melodies really spring to life. A stunning remix from East Cafe which rounds out a very well put together release from Balkan Connection. GuyRo is growing leaps and bounds as a producer, there's some real magic in these tracks, especially 'Illuminate'. Can't wait to hear more from him as 2018 unfolds. Highly recommended.
