Greg Ochman – Mistlove [Clubsonica Records]

Continuing to add exciting new talent to their roster, Clubsonica Records welcomes Greg Ochman to the label for his debut EP. Although a relative newcomer, Greg's deeply rooted passion for creating emotionally driven electronic music has already made its mark. With an elusive yet emotive take on organic house, the Polish artist made his debut on Sebastian Leger's Lost Miracle imprint in January of this year. Well received by both his fans and contemporaries, it not only enjoyed a lengthy stay in Beatport's Organic House chart, but set the course for what promises to be a breakout year. Now following his 'Parallel Time' collection for Switzerland's Radiant, Greg makes his Clubsonica debut with a three-track showcase entitled 'Mistlove'.

Getting the EP underway with the title selection, Greg marries rolling grooves with playful melodic concepts. Pronounced and warm, an enticing selection of free form motifs elevates mood through shimmering arrays and effervescent artefacts. Nostalgic chord changes flow through the mountainous groove, perfectly setting up a tranquil break where timely modulation advances the narrative onwards to a tasteful apex. It's youthful spirit and carnival-like vibe prove to be infectious across nine magical minutes and ultimately set the course for the remainder of the release.

Continuing with a mosaic of sounds and infinite emotional spectrums is 'Paper Moon'. From warm and mystical beginnings, the piece pulsates with kaleidoscopic melodies and spirited wails blanketing driving percussion and buzzing effects. Soulful strings highlight a poignant centrepiece, perfectly playing off childlike vocal choirs, before getting washed away as the groove resets for a spirited finale.

Rounding out the release is the tastefully poignant 'Someone Always Around'. Immersive and captivating throughout, it's filled with electrifying energy and big room sounds designed for maximum emotional impact. This piece strikes the perfect balance between trance inspired melodies, voluptuous bass and buoyant rhythms, to create a potent piece of music for the dance floor. It caps off a hugely successful Clubsonica debut from Greg, who continues to stake his claim as one of the organic house scene's fastest rising stars, thus further solidifying Clubsonica's place in this burgeoning genre.
