Francesco Pico – Push It [MNL]

The triumphant return of Francesco Pico continues with a brand new EP courtesy of Paul Hazendonk's MNL. In addition to his own resurgent career, Francesco's Magnitude Recordings has also enjoyed a revival, ultimately sparked by his 'Taming Da Echoes' EP, released in May of this year. Now the stars have aligned for a highly anticipated two tracker entitled 'Push It'.

Beginning with 'Push It' we get the best of Francesco's lively, organic sound. Smooth and dreamy across it's near nine minute running time, acidic warbles and spacey designs meld together for an introspective journey. Always keeping the dance floor in mind, this utopian soundscape does give way to a beefy groove at precisely the right moments for a balanced piece that's a joy for both your mind and feet.

The companion piece 'No Midi In The Renaissance' is a perfect complement with it's tougher vibe and percussive drive. It's the crunchy arp which ultimately shines here though; big, bold and full of electric character, it carries the track nicely before a timely break shifts the narrative into dreamy territory for a moment, only to perfectly segue back into the stomping groove. A sure fire dance floor bomb to round out another stunning release from Francesco. Highly recommended.
