Dmitry Molosh – Obsession [Deepwibe Underground]

Deepwibe Underground welcomes Dmitry Molosh back to the label for a new single. The Belarus based artist made his first appearance on the Estonian imprint in January with a well received remix of 'Elysium' by The Cobb. As one of the years biggest progressive house tracks, the remix enjoyed a one month long stay atop Beatport's Progressive House Hype Chart and a near eight month long run in the Top 100. Now considered one of the label's primary artists, Dmitry has gone on to deliver two singles and another remix over the last nine months. With a collaborative project with Cid Inc recently released on Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music, Dmitry now returns to Deepwibe Underground with a new single entitled 'Obsession', alongside a remix from Ewan Rill & K Loveski.

Dmitry has ventured off into organic house territory lately and with great results, as evidenced by his remix of The Cobb's 'Veter'. Here however he sticks to his progressive house roots and turns in one of his best originals of the year in 'Obsession'. The amazing thing about the Belarus artist is how versatile he is under the progressive umbrella, some productions come in with a darker edge and peak time flavour while others sit in a more emotive headspace. With 'Obsession' we get something like the former with a fierce muscular groove sitting at the foundation and providing the perfect backbone for crunchy rhythms and wavy arps to work their magic. There's a mildly astral ting which emerges during the main break, bringing with it more dark overtones and eventually spearheading a dynamic build, thunderous drop and exhilarating finale. You'll no doubt be hearing this one a lot in the coming months.

Rounding out the release and providing the lone interpretation of ‘Obsession’ are Ewan Rill and K Loveski. The Russian duo have been occasional studio partners over the last few years, earning support from Hernan Cattaneo and Guy J, while landing releases on Nick Warren’s The Soundgarden and Balance Music. Having both previously appeared on Deepwibe Underground in solo capacity, the duo connect once again and deliver an inspired take on 'Obsession'. Taking a cue from the heady vibes of the original Ewan and Loveski, lean further into progressive territory with a shapely groove that immediately commands attention. Arpeggiated fragments bring a luminous, metallic quality to the mix, perfectly setting up a classic progressive melody during the break. Not looking to take the musicality too far, a classy build ushers in a dubby drop, allowing the melodic elements to reconvene across the final act for a spine tingling finish. An amazing remix which complements the Original beautifully and makes progressive fans and DJs spoiled for choice here. One of Deepwibe Underground's best releases to date. Highly recommended.
