Sabo

Sabo is an American artist who has been instrumental within the organic house scene. Not only is his record label Sol Selectas one of the most influential organic house record labels, but he is also a revered DJ and producer whose music helped pioneer the genre. Although organic house is the best way to describe his sound, he has eclectic tastes that include other genres such as Afro house, melodic house, deep house and anything mid-tempo that has tribal drums or a world music influence. Most recently, Sabo teamed up with Namito and Shamoun to release their three-way collaboration, “Spicy Sumac.” “Spicy Sumac” is out now via Sol Selectas, and we invited Sabo for this interview to find out more about him as an artist and his new release… Hi Sabo, could you start by talking through your music style, and what inspired you to start your record label Sol Selectas? “My style is best described as organic deep tribal house and downtempo. I like percussive drums, and gr

Argentinean artist Agustín Ficarra made his debut in 2020 and has since scaled his associations & quality, from releases on D-Nox's 'Sprout', Mango's 'Mango Alley' to Nick Warren's 'The Soundgarden' and Hernan Cattaneo & Graziano Raffa's 'Sudbeat'. Agustín continued making waves, especially throughout his home country, with comprehensive & genre-breaking DJ sets, whether on his own or alongside fellow peers from the 'Who Knows' crew. This week finds Agustin making his debut on Praveen Achary's Juicebox Music with a three-track artist EP 'Revival'. To showcase a portion of his range, Agustín has crafted three tracks that express certain musical directions, whether it's the hard-hitting techno-influenced monster in "Revival" or the organic-infused emotionally charged groover in "Levitar" or the technically unconventional songwriting in "Conventional Habit". Progressive Astronaut caught up with Agustín to learn more about the release of 'Revival', his background, e

Valencia based sound architect Upercent has developed a distinct brand of electronic futurism. An enthusiastic attitude towards experimentation, coupled with extraordinary creative vision has made the Spaniard one of the more unique artists to emerge in the last decade. Upercent’s first microCastle project, 2018’s 'Vuit', not only served as the imprint's second ever vinyl release, but continued the Valencia resident’s mission to create contemporary club tools and destabilizing sound explorations. Seemingly in constant motion moving forward, Upercent would go on to record projects for Diynamic, Kompakt and Watergate, amongst others, firmly establishing his place amongst the underground’s premiere talents. Now more than five years on from this elusive string of projects, it has been Habitat, Innervisions, Sum Over Histories and TAU which have been vehicles for his creative swell over the last two calendar years, reminding us of the niche he carved out during his initial rise, as
