On the back of two BIG remixes, label bossmen Spektre are back with a scintillating original. "Forged in the Heart of a Laserbeam" is a sci-fi tinged, trance-infused slice of techno. An unusual, haunting synth sequence morphs and evolves through the track, being joined by epic pads and juddering, gated vocals. The remix package comes courtesy of Skober and Sasha Carassi. Steffen & Stefan aka HANNE & LORE met 10 years ago at an event in their hometown Herford and started to spend studio time together. Soon after, the song “An der Waterkant”, released by Super Flu’s label Monaberry, became their breakthrough as a producing duo. It was the kickoff to a journey of countless memorable parties, festivals and after hours that created music released on many different labels along the way. Simon Doty’s Rhetorical Music makes a much welcome return this week with a new EP from Mia Mendi and ASAS. We last heard from the Canadian imprint in March of this year with the remix edition of Rauschhaus’ ‘Theory of Everything’ EP. Now following a nine month hiatus Rhetorical returns with a hugely anticipated EP from Mia Mendi & ASAS alongside a remix from Simon Doty & Zein. The title and showcase piece ‘Dunya’ leads the release off and features much loved UK vocalist Jinadu. The production is ultra crisp, highly detailed and yet hugely emotive. Not an easy thing to accomplish these days but creamy synths in combination with a powerful yet not overbearing vocal and timely modulation makes it goosebump worthy all way through.
