Argentinean artists Berni Turletti & Matias Chilano unite for a much anticipated EP courtesy of Praveen Achary's Juicebox Music. Perhaps best known for his releases on Nick Warren's The Soundgarden and Hope Recordings is Berni Turletti. The Cordoba resident has been tipped as one of progressive music's future stars and with support from the genre's premiere tastemakers it appears as the though the course is set. Fellow countryman and progressive scene veteran Matias Chilano has had what would have to be considered his most accomplished year on record. Having two of his productions appear on Patrice Baumel's Global Underground Berlin mix compilation, along with releases for Movement Recordings and Proton Music sit as the highlights. Now coming together for their first joint productions, Berni and Matias present their 'Alumine' EP alongside a remix from fellow progressive pundit Anton MAKe.

The creative process is an amazing thing when it goes well and when two like minded (not to mention excellent) artists come together the expectations are always high. Berni and Matias have more than met those expectations across the two selections here, beginning with the title track 'Alumine'. Warm and fluid from the outset, it's classic progressive roll is hard to resist. As the narrative evolves dreamy arps and melodic fragments drift across the framework, before effortlessly segueing into a redolent break. Quite concise at under a minute, the centrepiece allows the ethereal theme to breathe and modulate against a wispy atmospheric backdrop, perfectly setting the stage for a groovy finale. The companion piece 'Forgettable' follows a similar sonic ethos to it's predecessor. Once again backed by a traditional hip swinging groove, it's atmospheric resonance quickly sucks you in. Ghostly vocals sit beautifully in the mix, almost indistinct but it's that tasteful delivery which makes them so goose bump worthy. The melodic elements are incredibly emotive as well, more so than the lead track in fact, there's a sentimental quality that really grabs your heart and will no doubt commend the full attention of your dance floor.

The lone interpretation of 'Alumine' is provided by Anton MAKe who returns to the label following his remix of Michael A's 'Endless Time' from December of last year. The Russian artist also lays claim to recent releases on Cid Inc's Replug Records and Proton's Particles. Always a creative remixer, Anton now puts a unique twist on 'Alumine', taking it into darker, more subversive territory. The low end is particularly impressive, spacious and chunky with a rippling underbelly which provides copious amounts of momentum. The first act while heavy and heady has this exotic, atmospheric quality which perfectly foreshadows the brilliant break to come. Taking a cue from the original, while translating a more emotive message, makes this utterly captivating and with just enough tension prior to the drop to escalate the proceedings accordingly for an otherworldly finale. A stunning remix from Anton which rounds out another exceptional offering from Juicebox Music, a label who seem to consistently have their finger on the pulse of all that is cool and current in progressive music. Highly recommended.
