Basil O’Glue – Monarch [Eat My Hat Music]

The latest release from Ziger's Eat My Hat Music welcomes Basil O'Glue back to the label for a new single. The Greek artist and Saturate Audio label boss made his Eat My Hat debut in July of 2020 with the 'Sycophants' single. A remix of label boss Ziger then followed later that year along with releases for John OO Fleming's JOOF Recordings and UV. Continuing his bond with the label, May of this year then saw Basil return for his second remix, taking 'Supervision' by label boss Ziger and Nosh and SJ into his world of high energy progressive house. Now following projects for Mango Alley and Pure Trance, Basil makes a welcome return to Eat My Hat with 'Monarch', alongside a remix from Lugubre.

Beginning with the Original Mix Basil moves into darker territory with a machine gun style groove, charged rhythms and devilish percussion. Ominous and compelling at the outset, it's arpeggiated trails and waves of crunchy electronics make for a high octane first act, before gently melting down into a memorable interlude. Bringing emotion into the narrative, the centrepiece elevates mood while maintaining the track's mystical presence, eventually giving way to a prophetic build and crushing finale.

The release concludes with Lugabre returning to the label and providing the lone interpretation of 'Monarch'. The French artist made his Eat My Hat debut to begin 2021 with the release of his three track 'Animah' EP. Well received for it's astral techno sensibilities, it prompted a quick return in February for an equally successful remix of 'Your Way' by Ziger and Mind Conspiracy. Now following a remix for Univack, Lugebre lands back on Eat My Hat with a powerful rendition of 'Monarch'. Setting the piece in motion, a foundation of punchy beats and pulsating rhythms unite for a wall of momentous energy. Flickering arps and fiery percussion complement the robust groove, while mind bending effects steal the air at timely moments. Taking a cue from the Original Mix, the main break elevates mood with a slight emotional lean, before a timely rush sparks a cosmic finale. An inspired remix from Lugabre which rounds out another must have release from Ziger's Eat My Hat Music. Don't miss it.
