Making a return to his Or Two Strangers imprint, Antrim unveils his second artist album ‘Grey Skies’. In what has been a storied career, Antrim has been prolific across the first half of 2024. The Hernan Cattaneo supported ‘La Fin Du Monde’ and ‘Meeting Point’ would get the year underway in style, a release which found the Cordoba resident returning to Clubsonica, a label where he carries a long creative partnership. The timeless two-tracker would set the course for a trio of Or Two Strangers offerings, firstly ‘Prokliseis / Green’, a double a-side release which was quickly followed by his first remix of the year, an emotive take on ‘Looking For You’ by Alto Astral, before the May release of ‘The Axis’, a vocal collaboration with Juan Fernandez which enjoyed steady play across the spring club season. Antrim’s debut artist album, the Sudbeat released, Bandcamp only ‘Beat2Be’, landed in 2021 and was a collaborative project with a bevy of progressive music’s finest artists in Analog Jungs, Ezequiel Airas, Marcelo Vasami and Nicolas Rada, amongst others. Now, three years on from its release, Antrim has emerged with a new full length solo effort entitled ‘Grey Skies’. With the project’s introductory single ‘Never Gets Old’ landing amidst much praise in June, Or Two Strangers now unveils the full ‘Grey Skies’ long player.

Comprised of ten distinctive and equally compelling creations, it is groovy qualities of 'Unlocks My Time' which sets the tone for the album. Instantly seductive, its chunky bass lines, retro synth cascades and soulful vocal phrasing provide the perfect prelude to ‘Mental Clarity’'. Here the Cordoba resident flexes his free-thinking muscles with evolving, emotional and hypnotizing structures, allowing the listener to relish in the groove, while building anticipation towards an array of muted vocal fragments and swing-heavy rhythms. Continuing to diversify his portfolio, Antrim takes a head-on approach with selection three ‘The Limbic Resonance’. Its trance-inducing grooves and playful rhythmic cadence bring an energetic rise perfect for mid-set play, in turn setting up the meditative qualities of ‘Upon Little Change’. As an apt barometer of where Antrim's headspace is at, the eight-minute construction excels through its use of hopeful soundscapes, heartfelt fragments and quirky bass stabs. It's eager optimism perfectly preludes the album’s title cut ‘Grey Skies’, a collection highlight where the Argentine surveys nostalgic vocals and trance-inspired sonics.

Continuing on a lighter monochrome, it is the haunted motifs and wavy grooves of 'Up The Pole' which mark the album’s half-way point, tactfully building tension through siren-like tones and a prophetic break. Its adventurous spirit is something Antrim relishes in, as he continues to survey his creative process on ‘White Lamp’. Here, Antrim reaffirms his ability to tip a dancefloor over the edge, planting multiple explosions of serotonin through fluttery synth mutations and metallic melodies, before confidently returning to the groove for a sweeping aerial final. Moving forward, Antrim’s unique style raises the bar with the florid sounds of 'Times Of Nepotism'. Expansive and stirring at over eight minutes in length, its childlike nature is enthralling, bound by themes that are both whimsical and groovy. Once again, a trance-inspired undertone fuels the narrative, as placid atmospheres create a unique and entrancing sonic ecosystem. The album's final stretch sees the Argentine furthering his pursuit of rhythmic and harmonic experimentation with the tough beats of 'Hardship'. A concise, arp-drive dancefloor romp highlighted by a no frills arrangement and swaying rhythmic structures. Sure to be celebrated for his progressive abilities, Antrim places the final piece in this ten-track audio travelogue with ‘Never Gets Old’. Acting as the project’s first single, it landed in June and immediately struck a chord with electronic music fans. Its arpeggiated sequences ring out across thumping beats, while a break of loud-soft dynamics puts a final stamp on this club-effective collection, one that traverses a multitude of realms and dimensions throughout.
