Andre Absolut – Neverland [Mistique Music]

The latest release from Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic’s Mistique Music welcomes Andre Absolut back to the label for a brand new single. Perhaps best known for his releases on Baroque Records, Sog Records and Vapour Recordings in the mid 2000s Andre has now returned with recent releases on Soundteller Records and Perspectives Digital. The Swiss based artist recently released his ‘High Water’ single on Mistique with great success, further peaking the interest of his return. Now Andre presents his second single for Mistique entitled ‘Neverland’ alongside remixes from Alex Vidal and Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic.

In terms of pure progressive house sensibilities ‘Neverland’ encompasses everything fans love about the genre. Smooth yet powerful grooves, combined with chugging rhythms and elegant melodies, that do just enough to evoke an emotive response without sounding cheesy. The atmospheric resonance during the main break is certainly the highlight here, moderately cinematic before melting down to a bed of sonic artefacts as the groove drops for an exhilarating finale.

First up on the remixes Alex Vidal ups the tempo a touch and presents his unique style of melodic progressive. The main themes translate well throughout the first act as the rolling groove continues to build to momentum. It’s the main break where the drama and intensity goes a step further, as the melodies get washed away in a wall of white noise, setting up a massive drop and magical dance floor moment.

The release concludes with the Mistique Music label bosses Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic adding further depth to the release with a deeper take on ‘Neverland’. The trio’s grooves have become instantly recognizable, not only for their immaculate shape but unique sonic character. A dubbier narrative is powered by acid-like hooks, ultimately leading to a ghostly break which stretches well over the two minute range, creating an astral storyboard to close the release out on a cosmic yet still imminently groovy note.

Great to see yet another artist from the golden era of progressive house making a name for himself once again. Very curious to see what the rest of 2018 holds for Andre because the music is certainly sounding great.
