Releases Alex Rusin & Reiklavik – Progresia [Slideways] By Release Promo Posted on 11th January 2018 0 second read 0 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin Tim Penner’s Slideways Music kicks the new year off with a brand new EP from Alex Rusin & Reiklavik. The Polish duo first appeared on the Canadian imprint in June of 2015 with the well received ‘Blizzard’ single. Solo appearances on Saturate Audio and Electronic Tree have highlighted their respective discographies and now the duo make a much welcome return to Slideways with ‘Progresia’ alongside remixes from Sonabit and N’Pot. The original mix is a highly detailed piece of progressive house. One that’s impressive from a design perspective but also hasn’t lost sight of the dance floor or emotion. It starts with a rich, full bodied groove and grainy, rolling percussion. They complement each other well, while the surrounding atmospheres and melodic motifs enhance the storyboard in subtle yet poignant shifts. The break represents the emotional core of the track, a bed of bassy swells and decayed melodies take you on a wonderful ride before the groove drops and adds just the right amount of power without ruining the subtle brilliance of the track. Both remixes take the track somewhere slightly different and equally satisfying. First up Sonabit returns to the label following his ‘You Have To Understand’ single from December of 2016. The Berlin based artist goes a touch darker while still retaining the emotive appeal of the original. Ultra crisp production, waves of effects and a penchant for timely transitional shifts make this a can’t miss for the dance floor and with it being over a year since his last release this is one his fans have certainly been waiting for. The second and final interpretation is provided by N’Pot who is making his first appearance on the label. 2017 proved to be an excellent year for the Argentinean artist, showcasing his music on Balkan Connection, MNL, Northern Lights and One Of A Kind. Now making a much anticipated debut on Slideways N’Pot goes deeper and darker for a great complement to the previous two versions. With a narrative focused more on atmospherics and flow it’s a heady journey highlighted by melancholic motifs and bassy, late night rumblings. A killer rendition by N’Pot who definitely seems to coming into his own of late. It rounds out an excellent release for Tim Penner’s Slideways Music who get 2018 off to a strong start.
