The Bridge is a 9-track release on Sol Selectas, and it’s a mystical album with melodic pads and nomadic grooves. At the heart of the album is an instrument called an “Indulung,” that has been invented by Adam Alydrus. It looks like a small guitar, and has a unique sound combining elements of other instruments such as the Moroccan gembri, tar, saz, harp, melodica, and sape. The album is less dance floor focused than some of the Sol Selectas catalogue, but there are still tracks that DJs will find appealing. For example, “Land of the Roses” has a joyous vibe with flamboyant breakdown sections where Adam Alydrus’ musicianship is on full display. “Way to the East” has upbeat melodies layered over a strong kick and sturdy drums, and “Sipamandar” has a deep tension within the pads of its progressive flow. Some of the tracks are much slower, and although this will appeal to some DJs, the album seems to be intended as a long player for home listening.
