Pea K Five – La Buchille [Soundteller Records]

Soundteller stalwart Pea K Five returns to the label for a new single entitled 'La Buchille'. Now embarking on his fifth project with the label, it's safe to say the French artist has found a comfortable home on the Polish imprint after starting his career with Akbal Music. His latest, 'La Buchille' lands following Soundteller's excellent ADE sampler and comes alongside remixes from Red Solstice and Greg Ochman.

Pea K Five's smooth organic style shines on 'La Buchille' with warm buoyant beats anchoring nicely manicured percussion and sleek, swing-heavy rhythms. Ultimately though it's a strong thematic lead which captivates across the eight minute running time, flowing through cross-cultural moods with tasteful shifts that should provide some memorable dance floor moments.

Making his label debut and providing the first interpretation of 'La Buchille' is Red Solstice. Although this is just his third ever release, Red Solstice impresses here, staying true to the main themes while beefing up the percussion and reshaping the groove into a traditional roller. Drive and energy are at a premium here, making it a perfect midset choice.

Rounding out the release is Greg Ochman who returns to the label for the second and final remix of 'Red Solstice'. The Polish artist comes off projects for Clubsonica and Kiksuya with yet another impressive production here. As one of the organic scene's more creative remixers, Greg crafts a strong effects narrative along with a smooth key changing groove which leads into a dazzling break. Trippy and emotive in equal measure, the interlude's balance of mind-bending sonics and wonky musicality is perhaps a standout moment on the release, ultimately spearheading a groove-centric finale. Sensational stuff from Greg which makes for a memorable Soundteller return for Pea K Five. Don't miss it.
