Based in Chicago, Sergio made his Soundteller debut in 2020 with a contribution to the label's popular 'Vibrant Vibeland' series. Meanwhile, 2UP who is based in Mexico makes his label debut. Together the duo have delivered a well received release for Dear Deer's Black division and now they join forces once again on Soundteller with 'Introspection'. Known for their peak time sounds, the title selection continues the duo's penchant for unabashedly epic music. Firing beats, machine gun style rhythms and a tight, rolling arp lay the foundation for a smashing dance floor slam. Vocal overlays add depth and character at timely moments as atmospheric phrasing, buzzing stabs and glassy clusters marry for magic moments leading into the break. Progressively more melodic across the centrepiece, the duo elevates mood with symphonic style motifs, before pulling back for a hypnotic drop and driving finale. The companion piece 'The Under' lowers the tempo a touch but is equally powerful with it's muscular groove and devilish electronics. Once again vocal elements add a complementary touch, playing off delicate arps and timely clap delays across the first act. The main break serves to elevate mood through further development of the vocal, before wisely pulling back for a thumping drop and key changing finish. It rounds out two monstrous tracks from 2UP and Sergio Avila, a duo who seem to have found a great creative synergy. Highly recommended.
