Ziger – Lunar Taste [Eat My Hat Music]

Eat My Hat Music caps off a successful second year with label boss Ziger back in the spotlight for a new single. Following up a strong start to 2020 which included projects for Beatfreak Recordings and Clubsonica Records, Ziger unveiled his ‘Still Here’ single in August. Remixed by Basil O'Glue and Mind Conspiracy, it once again found the Greek artist on top form with a steady rise into the Beatport Progressive House charts. Now as the year winds to a close, Ziger returns to his comfortable home of Eat My Hat with ‘Lunar Taste’ alongside remixes from Kenan Savrun & Weird Sounding Dude.

In commanding fashion, it is the original mix which gets the release underway. Warm beats, cosmic arps and stunning effects begin the eight-minute journey. Waves of percussion fuel momentum across the first act, as ethereal phrases and haunting overlays segue into the main break. Short but impactful, piercing effects play out across the interlude, building anticipation and tension, before perfectly rising into a hook heavy drop and astral finale.

The first interpretation of ‘Lunar Taste’ finds Kenan Savrun returning to the label following his well-received ‘Ethereal’ single. Through key releases on 3rd Avenue, Movement Recordings and Strangetown, the Turkish artist has had an incredible year. Now as one of his country’s premiere progressive house talents, Kenan lands back on Eat My Hat with a stunning rendition of ‘Lunar Taste’. Over a tough muscular groove, the Ankara resident lays down crunchy rhythms, wispy atmospheres and buzzing electronics. Aimed squarely for a peak time dance floor, tension mounts durning the main break with sprilling arps and striking effects melting down into hazy atmospheres, as rhythmic pulses cue a powerful final movement.

Rounding out the release with the second and final interpretation of ‘Lunar Taste’ is Weird Sound Dude. Serving as his Eat My Hat debut, the Indian artist got the year underway with a well-received remix of MXV’s ‘Einrude’. Subsequent offerings via 3rd Avenue, Deepwibe Underground, Movement Recordings and Stellar Fountain have made for his best year on record. Now following a release for Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music, Weird Sounding Dude makes a welcome return to Eat My Hat with a stellar take on ‘Lunar Taste’. A perfect balance of warmth and drive provides the foundation for buoyant rhythms, quirky hooks and layers of fluid percussion. Funkier than its predecessors, a smooth transition into the main break relieves tension for moments of reflective warmth, before broken beats and astral aesthetics rise for a pulsating drop and mystical finale. An inspired remix from Weird Sounding Dude which caps off a great release and excellent year for Ziger’s Eat My Hat Music.
