Madloch's Sound Avenue imprint continues a strong start to the year by showcasing the first installment of it's 'Re:Imagined' series. These Various Artists EP showcases will take a look back over the label's catalog, presenting new interpretations from some of the freshest talent in the underground. In what promises to be a highlight in the Belgian imprints release schedule, the first installment finds Nopi, Hot TuneiK, Retza and Gimerique re-interpreting tracks from Paula OS, Paul Angelo and Don Argento, Paul Deep and Lerr respectively.

Having first appeared in March of 2019, Romanenko Vladislav aka Nopi has enjoyed a meteoric rise through the organic house underground. In just nine short months the Ukrainian artist has found a home on Akbal Music, When We Dip / XYZ, Sag and Tre and Seven Villas. His fresh take on deep and dreamy house has propelled him to one of the genre's top up and comers. Now making his much-anticipated Sound Avenue debut he delivers an inspired take on 'Pearl' by Paula OS. Always a creative remixer, the Ukrainian artist expands on the unique qualities of the original with an eight-minute free form sonic spectacle. Full, warm and undeniably organic; it's bulbous low end, airy vocals and exotic percussion provide the framework for moments of impassioned energy. Unpredictability and a wealth of blissful concepts make this a more than worthy complement to the original.

Sitting at the heart of Mexico's electronic music culture is Hot TuneiK. The Hookah Records boss has continued to delight progressive music fans with his deep, organic sound. 2019 proved to be another successful year for the Mexico City resident, yielding several successful collaborations and a hugely popular take on Andain's 'Beautiful Things'. Now returning to Sound Avenue Hot TuneiK turns in a stellar rendition of Paul Angelo and Don Argento's 'Durendal'. The groove gets reworked into something a bit chunkier while a complement of tranquil arps, misty atmospheres and organic percussion fill in the framework. Musically less pronounced, the Mexican artist opts for a meditative yet powerful approach, building tension subtly across the main break though timely modulation, before smoothly segueing into a fiery finale.

Next up and making his Sound Avenue debut is Retza. The Melbourne resident has etched his place in Australia's electronic underground with appearances at the country's largest events, namely Rainbow Serpent Festival and Let Them Eat Cake. Nearly a decade's worth of production credits has seen Retza showcase his music on several esteemed imprints, such as All Day I Dream, Balance Music, Kindisch and Magician On Duty. Now making a welcome debut on Sound Avenue, Retza re-imagines Paul Deep's 'Shakti' with resounding success. Aptly titled 'Primordial Cosmic Energy Mix', the Aussie artist goes deep and driving for what results in a powerful late-night jam. Glacial lines, ethereal vocal fragments and dubbed out tones unite for a vortex of sound and colour. Acid sprinkles add a nostalgic flair, while a buzzing break should command the full attention of your dance floor.

Rounding out the release and also making their label debut is Gimerique. Hailing from Belgium and Switzerland respectively, Bigasti and Floloco make up the Gimerique production duo. The former, a regarded figure within the industry, has showcased his music on Balance, Dream Culture, EIN2, Lost Diaries and Steyoyoke; while Floloco heads up the hugely popular Schirmchendrink mix series, in addition to being an astute DJ himself. Having already recorded several joint DJ mixes, Gimerique now present their first collaborative production, taking Lerr's 'Hummingbird' into deep and dreamy territory. Smooth, emotive and rhythmically buoyant, it's tasteful musicality may be its strongest suit. Charming atmospheres and redolent shades set the backdrop for a narrative of hopeful tones, melodic clusters and organic drums. Groovy and emotive in equal measure it not only makes for an auspicious production debut for Gimerique but caps off a stunning first edition of Sound Avenue's 'Re:Imagined' series.
