Subandrio & Danidu – Monsoon [Soundteller Records]

Following their five year anniversary Deersky's Soundteller Records returns with a brand new single from Subandrio and Danidu. This is a first time collaboration from the Sri Lankan duo and just Danidu's third ever release following appearances on Hydrogen and Maintain Replay Records. Subandrio now considered one of the most cutting edge talents in progressive house returns to Soundteller for his 8th appearance. Together the duo present 'Monsoon' alongside remixes from Ian Dillon and Lucas Rossi. 

I'd not heard of Danidu until now but this meeting of creative minds is sure to put him on the progressive house map. The sound does differ quite a bit from what Subandrio does which is really nice. The production is a bit sleeker and less effervescent with the focus on smooth grooves and delicate melodies. Catchy vocal elements seem to carry the narrative at precisely the right moments and the swirling ball of atmospheric dust which hovers above plays off the subtle arps perfectly. A pure progressive bomb from two of Sri Lankan's finest. 

First up on the remixes is Ian Dillon who makes his label debut following releases on AH Digital and Modern Agenda. The UK artist is much loved for his old school take on progressive house and once again provides a magical production here. Upping the tempo just a touch and reworking the groove into subterranean territory has allowed all the haunting atmospheres and euphoric arps to breathe nicely. Gorgeous chord changes provide great emotion and waves of noise and effects further the journey into a gorgeous third act finale. Great remix from Ian.

The release concludes with Lucas Rossi also making his label debut with recent work for Nube Music and Varona Label standing out. It's a busy week for the Argentinean artist with four remixes being released on the same day. Prolific yet incredibly consistent Lucas closes the release out taking 'Monsoon' into slightly deeper but still pure progressive territory. The emotion he's pulled out of the original has blossomed into something quite special. Timeless in a way; it's waning synths, frayed vocals and fluid rhythms come together for a feel good dance floor production. Gorgeous remix from Lucas which caps off another well rounded release for Deersky's Soundteller Records.
