Monojoke continues to make an impact on the progressive scene with a new EP courtesy of Praveen Achary's Juicebox Music. The Polish artist has found a comfortable home on the Indian imprint, beginning with his 2016 remix of Subandrio’s ‘Sigiriya’ on through to his 2017 EP ‘Arterials’. Laying claim to releases on John OO Fleming’s JOOF Recordings, Movement Recordings and Sound Avenue, Monojoke has also gained considerable acclaim for his collaborative project Fluente, in conjunction with fellow countryman and Electronic Tree boss Tuxedo. Together the duo have showcased their work on Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music, Nick Warren’s The Soundgarden and Hot Since 82’s Knee Deep In Sound. Now presenting his first solo original project of the year, Monojoke returns to Juicebox Music with ‘Cold City / Superficial’ alongside a remix from Kasper Koman.

Monojoke has never really wavered from his unabashedly epic brand of progressive house and it’s served him quite well. Guy J and Hernan Cattaneo have both been steadfast supporters and his two latest creations keep that ethos nicely intact. The effervescent sound of ‘Cold City’ immediately draws you in as billowing stabs and a heavy percussive complement sit atop it’s romping peak time framework. The second act is incredibly well storyboarded, stripping down to muted beats as melodies open up and atmospheric tension rises, eventually peaking with a euphoric drop that will send your dance floor home happy. ‘Superficial’ comes in a touch deeper and funkier but no less euphoric, with another trademark wall of melody and colour building throughout the piece before eventually reaching a sonic sizzle during a tastefully epic conclusion.

The lone interpretation of ‘Cold City’ is provided by Kasper Koman who makes his label debut here. The Dutch artist has been tipped as one of progressive music’s freshest new talents with a forthcoming release on Guy J’s Lost & Found Records along with past efforts for Guy Mantzur’s Plattenbank Records and Tash’s Movement Recordings. His 'Cold City' interpretation is likely headed for the sets of Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and a long list of top tier DJs. Remarkably fluid it's rhythmic qualities coupled with a funky low end and a sparser yet equally emotive take on the melodic elements make for a modern day progressive classic. Expect to be hearing big things from Kasper in 2019. It rounds out what is another exceptional release from Juicebox Music, who once again seem to be getting the absolute best out of their artists, with this perhaps being Monojoke's finest hour.
