Monograph – Solar Wind [Deepwibe Underground]

Monograph return to Deepwibe Underground for a new single alongside remixes from Ivan Aliaga, Plus Thirty and Alex Konstantinov. Based in Russia and Estonia the creative duo delivered their well received 'Embrace' EP in October of last year, while also contributing to blue chip imprints Droid9 and ICONYC. Now presenting their first single of 2020 the duo return to Deepwibe Underground with 'Solar Wind'.

Renowned for their detailed design and hypnotic storyboards, Monograph deliver another beauty with 'Solar Wind'. Chunky bass tones marry dulcet beats for a wonderful foundation, before glowing arps and luminous overlays blanket the groove. Fragmented melodies are beautifully interwoven throughout the eight minute journey, ultimately coming to full fruition during the main break and rising further throughout a glowing finale.

Coming in first on the remixes is Ivan Aliaga who makes his label debut. The Argentinean artist first appeared on the progressive music scene in May of 2019 with a contribution to 3rd Avenue’s ‘Three Of A Kind’ split EP. Subsequent appearances on Dopamine Music, Droid9, PHW Elements and Soundteller Records further solidified Ivan and one of his country’s top new artists. Now continuing that strong momentum, the Cordoba resident turns in a powerful remix of 'Solar Wind'. The groove gets reworked into something a bit tougher and more rugged, while a complement of trippy effects and firing percussion fill in the framework. The main themes from the original gets utilized beautifully moving into the main break, rising above trailing drums and buzzing chord changes, eventually resulting in a tasteful crescendo and stripped down drop.

Also making their label debut and providing the second interpretation of 'Solar Wind' is Plus Thirty. The Greek duo are fresh off quality releases for ICONYC, Polyptych and Stellar Fountain which have highlighted a strong year thus far. Always creative remixers, the Athens residents prove they are an ideal choice to re-imagine 'Solar Wind'. Opting for a sleeker take on the main elements has resulted in a fluid rendition that’s both highly hypnotic and a touch devilish, the former of which builds throughout with timely modulation, ultimately resulting in a version that's going to go down very well at peak time.

Rounding out the release and providing the third and final interpretation of 'Solar Wind' is Alex Konstantinov. Hailing from Saint-Petersburg, the Russian artist is perhaps best known for his deep house alias Chunkee. Now moving into a more progressive minded realm, Alex records his first production under his given name. Anchored by tight beats and a nicely contoured groove it’s got immediate hypnotic appeal. Smooth chord changes and a variety of percussive details make for a sensory saturating first act, before unique sonic artifacts and buzzing design unite for a special moment during the break. Definitely one to bring your dance floor to life, rounding out what is another great offering for Deepwibe Underground. Highly recommended.
