Miraculum – Heartmelt [Balkan Connection]

Miraculum continues to have an amazing year with a new single on Balkan Connection this week. We’ve heard twice from the Hungarian artist and Stellar Fountain label boss thus far in 2018. His ‘Intimacy’ single on Soundteller and a remix of Abity on Balkan Connection were both top notch. Now returning to Balkan Connection for a follow up to ‘The Beauty of Existence’ MiraculuM presents his latest single ‘Heartmelt’ alongside remixes from Youngen and GuyRo.

There is always an emotive component to Miraculum’s productions but the aptly titled ‘Heartmelt’ might be one of his most poignant to date. What’s brilliant about it is that it’s not achieved in an overt way but rather through precise sound design and subtle musicality. The bubbly electronics have an absolutely gorgeous feel to them, cascading with moments of clustered bunches which really hit home. Combine that with an array of astral effects, smooth chord changes and otherworldly atmospheres and you’ve got a magical slice of deep progressive house.

It’s always a pleasant surprise to see something new from Youngen who has been incredibly quiet for the last few years. A remix on Particles appeared in October of 2017 but his remix here is his first production of 2018. As you would expect he’s nailed a really solid rendition of ‘Heartmelt’, giving it a bit of grit and edge, thus pushing it closer to peak time territory. The rolling groove and growling subby walls make up a brilliant foundation while an array of tasteful electronics and powerful percussion fill in the framework. What I love most about it though is a lone vocal-like stab, running through the majority of the track with the exception of a melodious break, it adds the icing on a near perfect progressive house cake so to speak.

The second and final interpretation of ‘Heartmelt’ is provided by GuyRo who returns to the label following his ‘Evenflow’ EP from March of this year. The Spanish producer is one of the more creative artists in the progressive underground and his remix here showcases that once again. Upping the tempo and giving the narrative a much meaner edge with rugged synth textures and esoteric electronics. Gaseous atmospheres add even more drama to a tension filled break, which ultimately results in a tasteful drop and fuzzed out, groovy finale. GuyRo has been tipped for big things this year and with remixes like this and an impressive upcoming schedule I have no doubt you’ll be hearing a lot more about him in the future. It caps off another stellar outing for Balkan Connection as usual. Don’t miss it.
