Klunsh – 239 / Kubark / Auf Den Start Warten [Timeless Moment]

Morttagua's Timeless Moment returns this week by welcoming Klunsh to the label for his debut EP. The French artist took the Afro scene by storm with his debut in January of this year. Released courtesy of MoBlack Records, 'Imaona' found a place in the sets of Dixon, Ame, Andhim, Trikk and several other top international talents. Now following subsequent releases on his Ifonika imprint Klunsh makes his much anticipated Timeless Moment debut.

Having previously released as Roddy Reynaert there's still a great musical quality to everything Klunish does and this EP is a perfect example of that. Spread across three tracks it's '239' which kicks the release off with a pollination of afro and melodic vibes. The character of the design stands out immediately; rich, round and laced with intriguing sonic artifacts, perfectly accenting the rhythmic flow of the track. A charming main break and classy drop keep it from going too big and thus perfect for a modern dance floor. The tempo and intensity comes up a touch on ‘Kubark’ with a driving groove and fiery electronics. Indistinct vocal elements add further intrigue before a quirky, contemporary theme shines during the second act. ‘Auf Den Start Warten’ comes back to more prominent afro sensibilities with waves of organic drums and a wicked vocal narrative; what’s great about that is it’s not overly cross cultural ( which can garner an eye roll or two at this point) but rather unique, mysterious and perfectly accenting the flow of the piece. Three exceptionally well produced tracks from Klunsh which make for a huge debut on Timeless Moment. Highly Recommended.
