Jacob Seville returns to Strange Town Recordings this week with ‘No Worries/Meru’. The Polish artist last appeared on the Canadian imprint in June of this year with a remix of Turbokitchen’s ‘Walter’. With releases on SOSO, MNL and his own Depthtone imprint it’s a been the best year on record for Jacob which continues with a welcome return to Strange Town alongside remixes from EANP and Weird Sounding Dude.

Jacob’s depth of sound has been noted on more than a few occasions. He’s an artist that has never gotten stuck in a particular stylistic blueprint and it’s that borderless scope which has made him an underground favourite of late. On ‘No Worries’ we get a charming hypnotic piece which effortlessly builds towards a piano led break. Musically it’s quite progressive but the framework might have you thinking otherwise. Another transcendent creation from Jacob. The companion piece ‘Meru’ is more techno inspired and once again sits comfortably in a modern space. Timeless motifs evolve into charming melodic clusters as dulcet beats and warm bass swells drive the foundation across a pleasing seven minute journey.

The lone interpretation of ‘No Worries’ is provided by Ezequiel Anile & Nicolas Petracca now known as EANP. The Argentinean duo have taken the progressive world by storm of late with releases on Just Movement, MNL and Magnitude Recordings. Here they put a pure progressive spin on ‘No Worries’ which lowers the tempo and opens up the groove. The piano theme resonates incredibly well, shaping a gorgeous main break before melting down into a flurry of electronics and tasteful arps. A magic moment in the track which perfectly sets up a groovy drop and stellar finale.

The lone interpretation of ‘Meru’ is provided by Weird Sounding Dude who makes his label debut. The Indian artist is having his best year to date, highlighted by releases on Juicebox Music, Dream Culture and Stripped Recordings. Here he closes the release out in style with a progressive minded rendition of ‘Meru’. Dark and brooding from the outset this is a production which carries a big presence. Flurries of claps and rolling rhythmic structures get locked in over a heavy chugging groove, before a tension filled break precedes a massive drop. A big remix from Weird Sounding Dude which caps off another well rounded release for Canada’s Strange Town Recordings. Highly Recommended.
