Holland – Arctic Dawn [Stellar Fountain]

Holland makes his much anticipated Stellar Fountain debut this week with 'Arctic Dawn'. The Bosnian artist has compiled a nice discography since appearing on the scene in 2012 with releases on ICONYC and Soundteller Records being catalog highlights. Now following a remix for Eternal Beats, Holland makes his Stellar Fountain debut with 'Arctic Dawn' alongside remixes from Hot TuneiK and Fer J.
The title and showcase piece is striking from the outset with well sculpted beats and a rolling cadence. Icy motifs create an eerie atmosphere across the first act before ushering in the main break. Evolving subtly as the centrepiece unfolds, it's trippy nature becomes captivating before cleverly fading off as the chunky groove returns for a smooth finale. The companion piece 'Interface' comes in a touch deeper as the tempo shifts down while billowing bass tones and a spoken narrative command your full attention. It makes for a suspenseful and highly dramatic break, almost cinematic in nature, it's storyboard quickly spirals downward into cavernous decay before another powerful drop.

Remaining on fire is Hot TuneiK who returns to Stellar Fountain for his second appearance. The Mexican artist and Hookah Records label boss takes 'Arctic Dawn' into his groovy organic world with great results. The main theme has been dubbed down in favour of hypnotic motifs and meditative rhythms. There's quite a strong vibe here and it's achieved with remarkable subtly, making it a piece that should go down well on an educated dance floor.

The second and final interpretation of 'Arctic Dawn' is provided by Fer J who makes his label debut following releases on Balkan Connection's BC2 and Michael A's Genesis Music. The Argentinean artist closes the release out strong with a deep and engaging rework that showcases mild cross cultural influences, percussive flurries and trails of trippy effects. The setup into the main break is quite nice with a short transition resetting the groove as percussion fires before decaying into an atmospheric reservoir. Full of emotion, it commands your full attention before expertly transitioning into a heady finale. A great remix from Fer J which rounds out another fresh release from Stellar Fountain.
