Fernando Olaya – Welcome to Mumbai [Auditen Music]

Auditen Music returns by welcoming Fernando Olaya to the label for his first EP. The Colombian artist has had a busy summer season with releases on Magnitude Recordings, MNL, One Of A Kind and his own Sonnet Speciale imprint. Auditen Music has continued to come into their own this year with key releases from Kamilo Sanclemente, Partenaire and label boss Dynacom. The stars have now aligned for Fernando to join the imprint with his much anticipated 'Welcome to Mumbai' EP.

The title track leads the release off and shows how apt the Colombian artist is in harmony and string arrangement. Soaring melodies evolve across its nine minute journey while a punchy, modern framework houses an impressive array of percussion and arps. The second act highlights the piece, stripping down to its core while progressing deeper into blissful symphonic concepts.

The second selection 'Brain Damage' is equally impressive, coming in a touch darker but no less musical. Anchored by a heavier, more menacing low end it's the top line elements which once again dazzle the senses. Vibrant hooks and rolling rhythms converge against a cinematic backdrop, before a stretch of heavy modulation and rolling drums sparks an absolutely magical drop. A massive peak time creation from Fernando.

The release concludes with 'Britannia' which is appropriately the most reflective of the three. The feel good factor is high with warm harmonics and playful melodies coming together in a perfect sonic marriage, while a crisp, detailed groove adds momentum with each successive loop. it rounds out three stunning creations from Fernando who is most definitely on top form at the moment. Highly recommended.
