The latest release from Madloch's Sound Avenue imprint welcomes Fermata Duomo to the label for his debut EP. Born in the Ukraine but now based in Israel, Artyom Tuwalski aka Fermata Duomo first appeared in February of 2019 with a contribution to the Asymmetric Recordings sampler 'No Winter Lasts Forever'. The seal of approval from label boss Lonya made for an auspicious beginning, setting in motion what promises to be a memorable year for the new talent. Now embarking on his most ambitious project to date, Fermata debuts on Sound Avenue with his 'Abandoned' artist showcase.

Fermata's infinity for crafting esoteric techno was noted through his first productions. It's an ethos he continues to explore across this four track collection, beginning with the title selection 'Abandoned'. Deep and driving, it's meaty low end is warm and wonderfully contoured, while grainy textures, trippy electronics and detailed percussion fill in the framework. Fragmented melodies build a brooding storyboard before transitioning into the centrepiece, where cinematic tension is at a premium. As the interlude evolves timely modulation continues to elevate the mood, before a subtle rhythmic shift ushers in a heady conclusion. The journey continues with 'Glue' which comes in a touch deeper and equally compelling. Warm and spacious, it's roomy framework develops methodically as wonky themes and quirky electronics converge in a perfect sonic marriage. Otherworldly in nature, the tonal tension rises to palpable levels as the second act unfolds, eventually peaking through subtle modular shifts, as one final drop seals it's dance floor appeal.

The EP's halfway point is marked with the melodic minimalism of 'Rene'. It's spacious groove is smooth and meditative, setting the perfect foundation for a sequence of obscure motifs and muted tonal design. Redolent hooks advance the narrative into funky territory, before melancholic meanderings provide an introspective conclusion. The fourth and final selection 'WhiteOnBlue' rounds the release out with a uniquely reflective mood. Conveying moments of deep yet profound emotion, it's dubby groove, tonal creativities and frayed electronics add melody and drama. It's a narrative which continues to evolve during an arcane break, perfectly transferring energy into warm bassy rumblings and a transcendent peak. Another inspired creation from Fermata which rounds out a monumental Sound Avenue debut for the Ukrainian artist, who by all accounts looks to capture the imagination of even the most discerning electronic music aficionados.
