Deepness & Ignacio Berardi – Rise [Stellar Fountain]

Stellar Fountain opens the year with a fresh collaboration from Deepness and Ignacio Berandi. Based in Argentina, both Deepness and Ignacio have enjoyed success in their respective solo careers. This trio of talented producers have showcased their music via Droid9 South America, Freegrant Music, Massive Harmony Records and Soundteller. Having worked together previously for Oscar Holgado's Symmetric imprint, Deepness & Ignacio Berardi now collaborate once again on 'Rise', alongside remixes from Nicolas Soria and Chaum.

The main mix comes across two versions, beginning with the transcendent sounds of the Instrumental Mix. Warm bass swells, emotive chord changes and exotic drums marry beautifully at the outset. As the narrative builds, the musicality rises with jangly motifs and plucky hooks working their magic, all while the sounds of nature carry the shape shifting journey into the break. Tranquil and uplifting, the interlude emanates positive vibes throughout, pushing that poignant lean on wards to a finale that is both rhythmic and melodic in equal measure. Meanwhile, the Original Mix features the heartrending vocals of Jessica Zese over the same exotic architecture which made the Instrumental so great.

Returning to the label and providing the first interpretation of 'Rise' is Nicolas Soria. With a discography that dates back just two years, the Argentinean artist has found a home on AMITABHA, Cigarette Music, Dreamers, Flug Lab and pad, where his deep sound has flourished. Having first appeared on Stellar Fountain in September of last year with his well received 'Double C' single, Nicolas now returns to the label with a gorgeous take on 'Rise'. Coming in deeper and more spacious than the previous versions, Nicolas opens up the framework with chunky bass tones and nicely manicured percussion. The vocal plays a primary role in the narrative, drifting gently below the surface, and bringing with it wispy effects and retro tones that add just the right amount of colour and emotion.

The release concludes with Chaum making his label debut and providing the second and final interpretation of 'Rise'. Born in Greece but now based in the UK, Angelos Moutsai aka Chaum has achieved great success since making his debut in 2016. Releases via Beat Boutique, Hoomidaas, Mango Alley, Movement Recordings, One Of A Kind and RYNTH have been vehicles for his progressive sound and it’s related derivatives. Now adding Stellar Fountain to his resume, Chaum makes his label debut with an inspired take on 'Rise'. Rhythmically enticing from the outset, a bed of punchy beats and warm bass set the foundation for Jessica's vocals to work their magic. Transcendent in delivery, the vocal narrative delights with more of a primary focus than the previous versions, building tactfully across the first act, before eventually giving way to a symphonic synth display which ultimately caps the release off beautifully. A gorgeous interpretation from Chaum, which completes another excellent release for Stellar Fountain, a label who continues to thrive with their new organic vision. Highly recommended.
