Celene – Fantastic Creatures [Eat My Hat Music]

The latest release from Ziger's Eat My Hat imprint welcomes Celene to the label for his debut EP. Chris Alex aka Celene hails from Greece and as a core member of the events promotion company 'NoLove', has been a recognized DJ in his country's nightlife for several years. Now embarking on his first production project, Celene debuts on Eat My Hat Music with 'Fantastic Creatures' alongside a remix from Mind Conspiracy.

Beginning with the title and showcase piece 'Fantastic Creatures', Celene crafts a proper slice of peak time progressive house. Punchy beats, electric rhythms and ghostly vocal wails begin the six-minute journey. Senses heighten as waves of percussion and cosmic effects unite across a powerful first act, before flowing effortlessly into a dramatic break. Mystical and tense, the interlude saturates your senses with sweeping vocals and astral designs, gradually opening up with each successive loop, before reaching an exhilarating crescendo. The companion piece 'Singing Garden' follows a similar sonic ethos, making it a perfect complement to its predecessor. Sitting at the heart of the piece is a pulsating groove and a distinctive vocal narrative. Ominous yet exhilarating, its arcane nature is inviting as astral arps and airy vocal fragments make for an incredibly heady journey. The storyboard becomes fully realized in the main break, melting down to a cosmic collage, before a smooth rush of beats and percussion spark a powerful third act.

The lone interpretation of 'Singing Garden' is provided by Mind Conspiracy who makes his label debut. Also based in Greece, the Athens resident has showcased his music on Hush Recordz, Gain Records and Marktek Records, where his cross pollination of progressive house and techno has flourished. Now debuted on Eat My Hat, Mind Conspiracy provides a powerful rendition of 'Singing Garden'. Atop a muscular groove, comes buzzing synths and re-processed vocals. It's unique contrast of grit and shimmer results in a remarkable narrative, one which makes for a hugely energetic yet quite cosmic journey, elegantly peaking through an atmospheric break, before an arp driven final act puts a cap on this astral gem. A stunning remix from Mind Conspiracy which rounds out a hugely successful debut on Eat My Hat for Celene.
