Caballero – Come Into the Circle [Undergroove Music]

The latest release from Undergroove Music welcomes Caballero back to the label for a new single. The Mexican artist has found a comfortable home on the Mexican imprint since making his debut over a decade ago. 2019 featured many successes for Caballero, with releases on Balkan Connection South America and Stripped Recordings sitting as the highlights. Now presenting his first project of 2020 he lands back on Undergroove with 'Come Into the Circle' alongside a remix from MYDA.

Beginning with the original mix Caballero moves into darker territory with a punchy groove, charged rhythms and devilish stabs. Both foreboding and mysterious, it’s flair for the dramatic grows as luminous arps and rugged rhythms lead to an expansive break. The narrative then shifts with an indistinct vocal and wonky lead line taking centrestage. Tense yet emotive it elevates mood to euphoric levels before getting washed away in a sea of dark beats and rippling grooves.

The lone interpretation of ‘Come Into the Circle’ is provided by label artists MYDA who return for their third appearance. Renowned for their cross pollination of progressive house and techno, the Canadian duo have also found a home on Iboga Records, Digital Structures and Techgnosis Records. Now following a remix for AlpaKa MuziK to begin the year, MYDA returns to Undergroove with a powerful take on 'Come Into the Circle'. Setting the piece in motion, a foundation of tight beats and neatly contoured bass converge for a wall of momentous energy. Fresh sonic artifacts and vocal fragments then steal the air, panning across the stereo field as percussive flurries and charged fills continue to advance the narrative. A short but well crafted break ups the the tension through subtle modulation, before ultimately seguing into a stripped back drop and electric finale. Smooth and groovy in equal measure, it rounds out a top notch release for Undergroove Music, which sees both Caballero and MYDA present some of their most satisfying work to date.
