Bruno Caro – Yugen [Balkan Connection]

Bruno Caro makes his Balkan Connection debut this week with a new single entitled 'Yugen'. The Argentinean artist has found a home on Stripped Recordings as well as Guy Mantzur's Plattenbank Records and Soundteller Records. This week marks a new chapter in his career with his first single for Balkan Connection alongside remixes from Milos Ilic, Greenage and Berni Turletti.

The original mix leads the release off and immediately you can tell how immaculately it's produced. Crisp, full and warm it's a pure progressive chugger geared for peak time play. The low end is quite lovely, flowing through endless chord changes with great shape and character. The melodies are not over done, delivering just enough emotion at key moments while not losing the dramatic feeling the track has. A definite winner from Bruno.

First up on the remixes Milos Illic makes his label debut following strong releases on Soundteller and Lowbit earlier this year. The Serbian artist goes deeper and darker for a perfect complement to the original. The tempo comes down but the tension goes up with a dark narrative, punctuated by a hugely dramatic break. Definitely one for the serious dance floors out there.

Next up is one of India's finest progressive house exports Greenage who is also making his label debut. As one of the artists who definitely made their mark in 2017, Greenage continues to impress with a smooth, atmospheric rendition of 'Yugen'. His cosmic approach is always a welcome one but a near two minute break of blissed out textures might be the highlight, perfectly setting up a groovy build and celestial finale.

The release concludes with Berni Turletti who rounds out this quartet of label debutantes following a release on the label's South America division. The Argentinean artist rounds out the package with a pure progressive rendition which is both groovy and trippy. Layered motifs and trailing effects sit perfectly over the percussive framework and several timely transitions make for an energetic ride. Top remix from Berni and another great release from Balkan Connection. Don't miss it.
