Brian Cid makes a long overdue return to Guy J’s Lost & Found Records with a new artist showcase. In many ways it was the Israeli imprint which began Brian’s foray into the world of progressive house. Released in September of 2014, the double a-side offering ‘Myst / Redwood’, marked the American artist’s debut on the label, ultimately setting a course for what has been a remarkable five year run. Now a favourite of Tale Of Us, Hernan Cattaneo, Audiofly and more, Brian has gone on to showcase his music on some of the world’s most respected labels, most notably Balance Music, Get Physical, microCastle, Supernature and his own Endangered imprint. Now following his well received ‘Light In The Lotus’ EP Brian lands back on Lost & Found with a four track artist showcase.

Beginning with the tranquil intro of ‘Symbiosis’ you get an immediate sense that you’re starting a memorable journey. Warm, spacious and remarkably organic, it’s deep redolent groove and robust rhythms prove to be dramatic and buoyant. What follows is a collage of atmospheric trails, ghostly overlays and rugged design, making for a uniquely groovy and character rich dance floor jaunt. It leads nicely into the collection’s most progressive oriented piece ‘Rebirth’. It’s been some time since we’ve heard something from Brian with this sort of rhythmic aesthetic. Fluid yet bouncy, the mysticism presented in it’s predecessor is prevalent here as well, almost meditative in ethos yet hugely powerful in cadence and flow, a return to the source if you will.

The collection’s halfway point is marked with the spacious, organic qualities of ‘La Busqueda Empieza’. Exotic drums and delicate acid lines sit a top a laid back, tepid groove, for what is a deeply moving ten minute journey. The main break acts as the emotional core of the piece, almost cinematic in nature, it’s symphonic charm is hard to resist, fully saturating your pleasure centre’s in the most understated yet highly satisfying way, thus making the drop all the more impactful. Following suit and rounding out the release in fine style are the celestial sounds of ‘In Tuno Sonora’. Perhaps the most reflective of the four, it’s deep, soulful and tastefully poignant, delivering it’s message through clever story boarding and melodic minimalism. Never content with resting on his laurels Brian has etched another transcendent moment in his discography with this collection, one which continues to show artistic growth and boundless creativity. Highly recommended.
