BiGz – Lifeforms [One Of A Kind]

BiGz debuts on Jelly For The Babies One Of A Kind imprint with 'Lifeforms'. Formerly known as Big Al, BiGz hails from Montreal, Canada with Lebanese/Persian roots. Also heading up Ready Mix Records, the Canadian artist has a long history in electronic music dating back to 1989. BiGz has worked with and assisted legends such as Frankie Knuckles, David Morales, Angel Moraes, Satoshi Tomiie, Nick Warren, Hector Romero and many more in different musical, professional and private projects. Having recently reinvented himself under the BiGz moniker he now makes his One Of A Kind debut with a new single alongside a remix from the red hot Analog Jungs.

Sitting comfortably in the creative space between deep and progressive house the original mix leads the release off. Undeniably groovy, it's rhythmic qualities quickly become hard to resist. It's this robust core that comes from a veteran savvy which BiGz has in spades. Indistinct vocals add nicely to the narrative before a short and timely break serves to shift energy into a slow burning finale. A killer dance floor jam from BiGz. One of the first tastemakers to chime in with support has been Nick Warren and with a dub version also provided you know it's one not to miss.

The release concludes with Analog Jungs returning to the label and providing the lone interpretation of ‘Lifeforms’. Based in Cordoba, the Argentinean duo made their debut on the Serbian imprint in May of 2018 with their well received 'Occasio' single. Also laying claim to releases on Hope Recordings, Or Two Strangers and The Soundgarden, Analog Jungs now return to One Of A Kind with a groovy rendition of 'Lifeforms'. The Cordoba duo stay relatively true to the rhythmic sensibility of the original while presenting it in a slightly more progressive minded context. A beefed up low end combined with astral motifs bend the narrative quite nicely, as it's bodied framework chugs along for a journey that is both groovy and sensory saturating. Already performing well with DJs pre-release it rounds out a must have offering from One Of A Kind who continue on a strong summer release schedule. Highly recommended.
