Antrim & Ezequiel Arias – White Moon [Or Two Strangers]

The latest release from Or Two Strangers finds label boss Antrim collaborating with fellow countryman Ezequiel Arias on a brand new single. Hailing from Cordoba, the duo have both earned considerable acclaim in their respective solo careers. Sitting firmly in progressive music’s elite class of producers, their collective discography sees releases on Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music, Nick Warren’s The Soundgarden, Cid Inc’s Replug Records and UK behemoth Anjunadeep. Having worked together once previously for a contribution to the Sudbeat ‘Showcrates’ 5 collection, Antrim and Ezequiel now pair up again on ‘White Moon’ alongside remixes from Alex O'Rion.

The studio synergy between Antrim and Ezequiel is notably strong and the duo work at the peak of their creative powers on ‘White Moon’. Smooth and inviting, its warm foundation is full of contour and character, while creamy tones and melodic fragments begin to build a musical narrative. Drifting harmonics flow across the first act, marrying perfectly with a pixie-like lead. Nostalgic and heartfelt, the main break melts down to an effervescent sizzle, full of gorgeous colour before smoothly segueing into a glowing finale. Antrim and Ezequiel have also included a ‘Day’ Mix which incorporates all those gorgeous musical elements over a gentle selection of broken beats and otherworldly atmospheres. A great alternative for the more adventurous DJs out there.

The lone interpretation of ‘White Moon’ is provided by Alex O’Rion who also makes his label debut. Much like Antrim and Ezequiel, the Dutch has won over progressive music’s top tastemakers, landing releases on Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music,Nick Warren’s Hope Recordings and Cid Inc’s Replug Records. 2019 proved to be a year of much success, capped off in fine style with a chart-topping remix for Clubsonica Records. Now making his Or Two Strangers debut, Alex caps off the release with two stunning versions of ‘White Moon’. Taking a cue from the original while adding a chunkier foundation, the Dutch artist carves out a dynamic groove adorned with firing percussive, vocal fragments and fresh rhythmic themes. Timely chord changes provide a unique emotional response, as the main theme drifts quietly under the surface. Coming to full fruition during the main break, the melodies begin to open up, rising triumphantly towards a powerful crescendo and exhilarating final act. Alex has also included an ‘Alternate’ Mix which offers a more esoteric approach to the musical themes. Reprocessed and a touch moody they provide a different perspective for the more astute connoisseurs and no doubt a delight on the dance floor as well. Two excellent interpretations from Alex which round out another must have release for Antrim’s Or Two Strangers imprint.
