Antrim – Catwalk [Clubsonica Records]

The 31st release on Clubsonica Records welcomes Antrim back to the label for his debut single. The Argentinean artist and Or Two Strangers label boss last appeared on the Colombian imprint in November of 2015 with a remix of Kamilo Sanclemente's 'The Art of Voice'. Now making his much anticipated return Antrim presents his latest single entitled 'Catwalk' alongside remixes from Matias Chilano, Jaap Ligthart and Alejandro Manso. 

It's been an incredible year for Antrim, highlighted by a string of quality releases for Capital Heaven, MNL, Perspectives Digital and Sound Avenue. As his sound continues to evolve each release becomes all the more anticipated which now leads us to the deeply, enchanting 'Catwalk'. From its warped yet fluid foundation to creamy textures and haunting vocal elements it's a charming journey from start to finish. Mashy, emotive undertones roll with its wondrous cadence while a one minute break elevates the mood towards a gorgeous finish. Perhaps one of Antrim's most intriguing and sought after productions all year.

The first interpretation of 'Catwalk' is provided by Matias Chilano who is making his first appearance on the label. The Argentinean artist is perhaps best known for his progressive minded productions on Dopamine Music, Soundteller Records and Sound Avenue. A storied history in the genre has made him one of the most in demand artists of the moment and he's delivered one of his all time best remixes here, taking 'Catwalk' into stripped down territory. Haunting from the outset; rolling beats, drifting motifs and organic designs fill out a meditative first act. The main break is perhaps the highlight, filled with psychedelic overtones and frayed sonics before an understated drop seals its brilliance.

The second interpretation of 'Catwalk' is provided by Jaap Ligthart who is also making his Clubsonica debut. The Dutch artist has proven to be one of the more versatile producers working today where his music has found a home on Manual Music and Selador Records. Looking back over his discography you see he’s equally adept at crafting deep, melodic house as he is rough and rugged progressive techno. Here he takes 'Catwalk' info funky, tech house territory which complements the previous two versions quite nicely. Refined and groovy, its playful jaunt is a delight for the mind and feet while a mild cross cultural flair adds just the right atmospheric tone.

The third and final interpretation of 'Catwalk' is provided by Alejandro Manso who is making his first appearance on Clubsonica. The Mexican artist has found a home on Tash's Movement Recordings where he has released two critically acclaimed EPs. His diversity has been noted with productions ranging from progressive house to techno with several stops in between. His 'Catwalk' interpretation closes the release out on a high note, sitting comfortably between deep house and techno. As dulcet rhythms roll, metallic designs and a grinding line lead perfectly into a stripped down second act. Void of any major break the anticipation stays high, expertly building to a tasteful finale and once again showing the Mexican artists diversity. A perfect conclusion to a well rounded release from Clubsonica Records that's not to be missed.
