Alex Vidal – Electric Night [Stellar Fountain]

The latest release from Stellar Fountain welcomes Alex Vidal back to the label for a brand new single entitled 'Electric Night'. The Spanish artist is fresh off two remixes for Mellophonic and now returns to the Hungarian imprint for his 14th appearance alongside remixes from Loquai, Mark Found and Espen.

Aptly coined, 'Electric Night' is full of energetic lines, dark motifs and a hazy harmonic resonance. It's shuffly groove and distinctive stabs create an impact straight away before spiralling arps and a vocal hit add some lovely colour, eventually opening up into moments of melodic beauty. The break packs some serious punch with a barrage of effects creating a wall of sound before dropping out into a massive third act finale. It's not hard to see why labels like Bonzai have taken a liking to Alex's productions, their old school charm and crisp production is quite nice and definitely worthy of great dance floor moments.

The three remixers have all done a nice job as well with scene veteran Loquai leading the way. The Russian born, Germany based artist has long been a groove carving savant and it's certainly evident here with thick slabs of bass pushing the track forward. The melodic elements are well represented and downplayed just enough to give it a distinctly different feel than the original. A touch deeper perhaps but still big by anyone's standards. Excellent remix from Loquai.

Meanwhile Mark Found takes a much different approach with a techier and decidedly more twisted rendition. The synth lines from the original have been reprocessed into a wall of effervescent sonics which make for an intensely beautiful first act. The break however steals the show with a gigantic build through waves of metallic melodies before a killer drop ultimately brings the hammer down. Huge remix from Mark.

Closing the release out is Espen who takes a much dubbier and more restrained approach with a version that sounds quite suited for late night play. The percussive cadence is really strong with the rough stabs and vocal elements getting used very effectively. The main break teases in the main theme for a moment, albeit in a subtle and more spaced out way. A very cool remix and one of my faves on the release just based on vibe along. A monstrous release from Stellar Fountain with the remixes from Mark and Espen being particularly excellent. Highly Recommended.
